Our Reception mathematicians have been busy exploring length and height in their maths learning!
Last week in continuous provision, the children used playdough and pipe cleaners to create beautiful flowers. They carefully compared their creations to mine, proudly explaining whether their flowers were taller or shorter. It was fantastic to hear them confidently using mathematical vocabulary in their play!
Today, our focus moved to length. The children became ribbon designers, using scissors to cut pieces that were longer and shorter. They compared their ribbons with friends, adjusted their choices, and explained their thinking using key maths language.
We love seeing maths come to life through hands-on exploration — our young learners are growing taller in confidence every day!
