This week in EYFS literacy, the children brought our focus story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt to life through an exciting outdoor learning activity… in the rain!
The children worked together to re-enact the story outside, becoming fantastic creative problem solvers as they thought carefully about what they could use in our outdoor area to recreate different parts of the journey.
Afterwards, the children collaborated to create a large story map, drawing the different parts of the adventure and using a variety of materials to make their work come alive. They used tissue paper to create the cave, alongside other materials to add detail and texture to their artwork.
To finish, the children practised their early writing skills by adding key words and repeated phrases from the story, helping to retell the adventure and bring their fantastic creations to life.
It was wonderful to see so much teamwork, creativity and storytelling as the children immersed themselves in our story learning!
