Image of Exploring Our Wonderful World!

Our class has been busy becoming globe-trotting geographers this week as we explored continents, climates, and the poles!

We began our journey by using atlases and a globe to locate the seven continents. The children loved spotting familiar countries and faraway places. To help us remember the continents and their order from biggest to smallest, we even learnt a catchy song—ask us to sing it at home!

In our next lesson, we used a world map and a compass to locate the North Pole and South Pole. We discovered that:

The South Pole is in Antarctica, where scientists work in special research centres.
The North Pole is actually in the Arctic Ocean, floating on sea ice—not on land!

We talked about the harsh, freezing environments in both places and what kind of animals can survive there. The children had lots of great questions about life in the coldest parts of our planet!

Then we turned our attention to the equator – the invisible line around the middle of the Earth. We found out which countries lie on the equator and learnt that it’s usually the hottest part of the world. We also discovered a new fact: the further away you go from the equator, the colder the climate tends to get!

What an exciting trip around the world—without even leaving the classroom!
