Superworm and Super Measuring

This week, our EYFS mathematicians wriggled into the world of measurement with Superworm! We started by comparing the characters in the story, using shorter and longer to describe their sizes.

Next, the children explored length by sorting objects around the classroom into shorter and longer hoops. They then put their measuring skills to the test by carefully ordering snakes of different lengths - making sure to line them up at the same starting point so their comparisons were fair!

Finally, we took our learning outside, where the playground became a giant measuring mat. The children drew wiggly worms with chalk and comparing their lengths, confidently using mathematical language.
