Image of Wellie Wonders: A Sensory Adventure in Nature

Class One had a wellie good time in today’s English lesson, inspired by the delightful book Where My Wellies Take Me by Clare and Michael Morpurgo. After slipping on their trusty wellies, the children headed outside for a sensory walk through forest school. With sights, sounds, smells and things to touch all around them, the children explored nature in a whole new way!

As they strolled through the great outdoors, they used their senses to discover the magic of the world around them - seeing vibrant leaves, hearing birds chirp and howling wind, touching rough bark and even smelling the earthy air. Along the way, they collected treasures from their adventure and recorded key words, each one sparking creativity for their upcoming nature senses poem.

The children are now ready to write poems inspired by their wellie walk, capturing the beauty of nature through their senses. It’s amazing how a simple walk in wellies can turn into a poetic journey!
