This week in our Science lesson, we traded in our usual classroom setting for the great outdoors in Forest School. The mission? To become botanists for the day! Equipped with magnifying glasses and identification charts, the children set off to study the hidden flowers in the forest.
The children were on a wild hunt to identify various flowers, using their keen eyes to examine each one’s unique petals and leaves. The Year 1 and 2 children got their hands dirty (in the best way possible) while the Reception children joined in, sketching the flowers they discovered - showing off some budding artist skills along the way!
Back in the classroom, we reviewed what we had found and matched our discoveries with the charts. Were we true botanists? We sure were! From vibrant foxgloves to delicate honeysuckle, our little explorers earned their titles. It was a day of learning, discovery, and of course, a lot of fun.
