Step into our classroom, and you'll feel like you've walked into a time machine! We have officially opened our very own Class Toy Museum, filled with fascinating toys and games from the past.
The children have loved exploring these historical treasures during their Busy Bee learning time—from old-fashioned wooden spinning tops and tin robots to classic rag dolls and cup-and-ball games.
Hands-On History in Action:
- Exploring How Toys Worked: We examined materials like wood, tin, and fabric, comparing them to the plastic and electronic toys we play with today.
- Playing Games from Long Ago: The children discovered how children in the past entertained themselves without batteries or screens!
Connecting History to English:
Our museum is also the starting point for our new English topic! Over the next week, each child will select their favourite toy to:
- Label the key parts using descriptive vocabulary.
- Write a detailed description about how it looks, feels, and moves.
Talk About It at Home
Ask your child about their favourite toy from our museum! You could also ask grandparents or older family members to share memories or pictures of the toys they loved playing with when they were little.
