Maple Class have had an absolute blast getting their wellies on and exploring our brand-new outdoor digging area! The children have dived straight into hands-on learning, making the most of every muddy corner.
What We've Been Exploring
- Capacity & Maths: Using plant pots, the children filled, scooped, and measured soil—practising important capacity vocabulary like full, empty, half full, and half empty.
- Worm Hunts: We found plenty of squiggly garden friends! The children carefully compared them to see which worms were longer and which were shorter.
- Tool Skills: The children chose the right tools for the job, using big shovels to dig deep holes and small hand trowels for precision digging.
It has been wonderful to see all of Maple Class getting stuck in, working together, and learning through active outdoor play!
Try It at Home
- Got a garden patch, muddy park, or even a bucket in the bath? Practise filling containers to talk about full and empty, or hunt for garden bugs together to compare their sizes!
