Oak Class has officially shifted gears into the design phase for our Greenpower racing Goblin.

The brief was simple: create a look for our racer that stands out on the track and represents the unique personality of our class.

We saw a  range of inspiration during our brainstorming sessions. It’s going to be a tough job narrowing these down! Here are some of the standout themes:

• The "Great Scott!" Influence: We had several designs inspired by Back to the Future. From "flux capacitor" decals to brushed-metal finishes, these designs look like they’re ready to hit 88mph (though we’ll be sticking to the Greenpower speed limits, of course!).

• Football Fever: For the sports fans in the room, we saw sleek designs incorporating team colors, racing stripes that look like turf, and even a "stadium seating" aesthetic for the cockpit.

How We Choose the Winner

Designing a racing car isn't just about looking cool—it's about engineering. As we review these ideas, Oak Class is looking at three main pillars:

1. Aerodynamics: Does the design help the car "slice" through the air?

2. Weight: Can we achieve this look without adding too much heavy material?

3. Team Identity: Does this design make us feel like a single, unified racing team.

We look forward to welcoming Dr Allen in to help us with the body work.
