Image of Moving Magical Sea Creatures!

Today in our mixed EYFS and Year 1 class, we dived into an exciting Design & Technology lesson as part of our Moving Monsters topic. The children explored how to create different types of linkages using strips of paper and split pins — learning how simple mechanisms can bring their creations to life!

After experimenting with these moving parts, the children applied their new skills to design and make their very own moving mermaids and sea creatures, tying perfectly into our ongoing Beach and Under the Sea theme. We saw some fantastic creativity as the children carefully assembled their creatures, making fins, tails, and arms move in fun and imaginative ways.

It was wonderful to watch the children problem-solve, practise fine motor skills, and share ideas with their friends. Their enthusiasm for making their moving monsters swim and wiggle around was infectious!

We can’t wait to see how they continue to develop their D&T skills as we explore more exciting projects this term.
