This week in English, Class 1 became book detectives on a very important mission… to catch the mischievous Nibbles the Book Monster!
After discovering some very suspicious bite marks in our reading corner and noticing some well-loved stories mysteriously nibbled, our EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 children got to work creating wanted posters to help track him down.
Using adjectives and expanded noun phrases, the children described Nibbles in fantastic detail — from his “yellow, furry body” to his “sharp, pointy teeth” and “mischievous, evil smile”! They wrote about where he was last seen (inside a fairytale!) and what his terrible crimes were (nibbling through books and jumping into stories without permission!). Some posters even offered rewards such as a waterproof book he cannot nibble, £1,000,000, or chocolate cake to anyone who could help capture him.
To finish off their work, the children drew some brilliant illustrations of the cheeky little monster, complete with wild fur, twitching ears and big eyes full of trouble.
Keep your eyes peeled, because Nibbles could be anywhere... and with such creative and clever posters around school, we’re sure he’ll be found soon!
