This term in RE, we explored how powerful stories can shape the way we live, think and feel – all through the creative lens of art! As part of the Spirited Arts competition, our theme was "Stories That Change Lives", and we focused on some of the parables Jesus told in the Bible.
KS1 children chose the story Jesus Calms the Storm. After listening carefully and reflecting on the meaning, they created stunning artwork to show the moment Jesus brought peace to the frightened disciples in the boat. The children shared thoughtful reflections, saying things like:
“Jesus calmed the storm – he helps to calm us too.”
“When we are scared or worried, we know God is always with us.”
It was wonderful to see how the story helped the children think about their own feelings and how faith can bring comfort.
Reception focused on The Lost Sheep, learning that God is like the loving shepherd who looks after each and every one of us. They talked about how special it feels to be cared for and never forgotten, no matter what.
Our RE learning this term has been full of creativity, deep thinking, and kindness. The children showed great understanding of how these special stories can help us all be more thoughtful, caring and loving – just like Jesus.
