Image of Super Sunflowers and a Planting Experiment

This week, our brilliant EYFS and KS1 scientists got their hands dirty as we planted sunflower seeds as part of our Plants: Growth science unit. We discussed what plants need to grow and then gave our seeds everything they needed: soil, water, warmth and sunlight.

But... We didn’t stop there! We planted three extra sunflowers for a Science investigation:

  • One without sunlight
  • One without warmth
  • One without water

We will be observing carefully to see what happens when a plant doesn’t get the right conditions. The children made fantastic predictions and can’t wait to see which plants grow strong - and which might struggle!
