How Much Can It Hold? Exploring Capacity in EYFS

This week in maths, our EYFS children have been busy exploring capacity! They investigated how much different containers could hold by filling them with bears, dice, letters and cubes. The children made predictions about which containers had the greatest capacity and tested their ideas by carefully counting how many objects each one could hold.

Through hands-on exploration, they discovered that bigger containers don’t always hold more and that shape can also affect capacity. It was a fantastic way to build their understanding of measurement through play and discovery!
