Image of Christmas Poetry

Today we listened to a poem called ‘What’s in the Box?’ and tried to hear and spot the pattern. We also learned about the rhyming elements in the poem and worked together to read, identify and highlight the words that rhyme. After learning the repeated rhyming structure of the poem we started thinking about how we could change the poem to ‘What’s in the Christmas Box?’ The children shared ideas for what they would want to find in their Christmas box on Christmas morning. They were then challenged to think of things that rhymed and add adjectives and expanded noun phrases to their Christmas items.
